Speaker: George Greenwald (survivor)
Rabbinic Chair: Steven Moskowitz, Temple Israel
Cantorial Chair: Sara Hass, Temple Israel
Mr. George Greenwald will be speaking on his experience in Hungary and Czechoslovakia before, during and after the Holocaust. George, a former Orange County resident, was born in 1936 in Kosice, Czechoslovakia. Along with his mother, Edith, he narrowly escaped being sent to a concentration camp by the invading Germans. George currently resides in Eugene, Oregon, and is now a sculptor. The memories imprinted during his childhood still influence his thinking about the world and shape the visions in his art. His work has been compared to modernists such as Henry Moore and Allan Houser.
