The CSULB Jewish Studies Program provides the academic breadth and depth necessary for students to comprehend culture and heritage that is over 5,000 years old. Judaism has a distinct impact on world civilization. The interdisciplinary and exciting nature of the field includes courses drawn from diverse disciplines. It provides students with an understanding of Jewish traditions, culture, critical literary and canonical texts, language, religion, history, politics and the arts. It contrasts approaches to the modern world and changing concepts of Jewish identity. Students acquire an understanding of the broader dynamics of the Jewish experience through different eras and geographic settings in the United States, Israel and the Diaspora.
