Babysitting at Jewish Long Beach offers a safe, nurturing environment for your child(ren) while you enjoy a workout, swim, or class. Babysitting is only available for active Family Members with children between the ages of 2 – 8 years old. Parents must remain in the building during the time their child(ren) are under the care of staff.
Children under a Family Membership tier are eligible for babysitting. To check your membership tier, log into your Daxko account and view your dashboard. You should see your membership tier under your name.
Children must have a profile associated with your membership to register (If your child has attended Camp Komaroff or Early Childhood Education, they most likely have one).
To ensure proper staffing, reservations are encouraged to be made at least 24 hours in advance. Walk-ins will be taken if proper staffing allows. Staff reserves the right to refuse walk-ins. There is a maximum of 2 consecutive hours for babysitting.
Active Family Memberships receive up to 10 hours of babysitting per month included with their membership by using the provided month's discount code. The discount code can only be redeemed once per child.
Additional hours of babysitting may be purchase at a rate of $6/hour. You can purchase babysitting online or in person at the Courtesy Desk. Babysitting sessions expire 3 months from date of purchase.
You must remain in the AJCC building – and be accessible by cell phone – the entire time your child(ren) are under the care of babysitting staff.
Parents returning after their scheduled end time will be charged $10 for every 10min or portion thereof.
Upon your first visit to the babysitting room, you will be required to complete a Child Information Form for each child. This form will advise us of any medical concerns and provide authorized pick up and emergency contact information. Children will only be released to the person who dropped them off.
If at any time you come to pick up your child and the babysitter on duty does not know you, you will be required to show identification. Children cannot be dropped off or picked up by anyone under the age of 18.
It is recommended that you pack your child a labeled snack and drink. In accordance with our kosher policy, pork products such as ham, bacon, pepperoni, etc as well as shellfish are not permitted. Due to some children’s allergies, the babysitting room is a nut-free area.
Please write your child’s first and last name on all belongings including diapers bags, cups, bottles, coats, gloves, etc.
Children will not be admitted to babysitting if they are vomiting, have a fever, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, diarrhea, eye discharge or pink eye, excessive coughing, oozing sores, head lice, an undiagnosed rash, or any of the following: fever, chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, new loss of taste or smell - or are obviously not well. Children must also be 24-hours symptom free and fever-free without medication to attend babysitting.
When a child becomes ill or injured, the staff's first priority is to meet the child's physical health needs. In case of illness, we will take the child's temperature, as well as perform an overall visual health assessment. A phone call to the parent will be made when the babysitting staff deems it necessary for the parent to pick up their ill or injured child.
While a physician's note may be helpful, it does not guarantee that a child may attend babysitting if displaying the above symptoms. Final decisions on allowing a child to attend are made by the babysitting staff.
Children who are not fully potty trained should be in a diaper while in our care. We ask that you do a potty/diaper check before dropping off your child. Babysitting staff does not change diapers. If your child needs a diaper change, you will be contacted to come change them.
We will give each child professional care and attention. However, if a child becomes too distressed/disruptive, it may be necessary to pick up your child. All efforts will be made to comfort/redirect your child, but intense crying/disruptive behavior will result in our contacting you to return immediately to the babysitting room. Repeated inappropriate behavior or inappropriate language will not be tolerated and will result in suspension from use of babysitting.
During a fire drill or in the event of an emergency, the babysitting staff will follow Jewish Long Beach’s emergency procedures.
