Housewarming for the Homeless

6:30PM - 9:00PM

Alpert Jewish Community Center 3801 E. Willow Street, One Sommer Way
Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Jewish Federation Campus
Long Beach, CA

Beginning with wine and cheese, gather round the table and schmooze with friends while making cozy fleece blankets. We are also collecting household items to give to the Multi-Purpose Center for the "Welcome Home Kits" that they provide to people moving off the streets. When individuals who have experienced long-term homelessness finally are able to move into a new housing situation, they typically have ZERO of the items needed and it can be very overwhelming! These kits help ease the transition into housing and provide basic items that every home needs. December and January are great times to pick up a lot of these items on sale. "Like new" items will be accepted.

List of items we hope to collect:
All-purpose cleaner, bath mat, bath rug, blankets, broom/dustpan, can opener, coffee maker, comforter, cookware, cutting board, dish soap, dish drainer, frying pan, flatware, hand soap, dish sponge, laundry basket. mop,
sheets, shower curtain, towels, laundry detergent, toilet paper, shower hooks, trashcan, wash cloths, toilet bruch

RSVP to Michelle Sztraicher or Barbara Cohen at (657) 235-2511 or  info@ncjwlongbeach.org by Thursday, February 20, 2020.
