Kick off Jewish American Heritage Month with a special presentation featuring Ethiopian-Jewish American chef Beejhy Barhany.

Chef Barhany will share a traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony followed by a moderated discussion and Q&A. She will also have signed cookbooks available for purchase. Coffee and refreshments will be provided.

Prior to the 6:30 pm program at the J, Chef Barhany will be speaking at LBCC (LAC, Room W-201) at 12 pm, with musical selections by Cantor Kelly Cooper. Deli sandwich lunch and drinks will be provided.

Chef Beehjy Barhany

Barhany was born in the Tigray region of Ethiopia, she fled the country as a child, made aliyah to Israel in 1983 and then moved to New York in 2000. Through her cooking and storytelling, Barhany acts as a "cultural ambassador". She is the author of several cookbooks and founded Tsion Cafe in Harlem in 2014.
