Learn American Mah Jongg with the Mahj Club Beginner Retreat. Infused with over 30 years of playing experience and delivered through our Authentically Mah Jongg service, this retreat is grounded in the traditions of the game and aligned with official National Mah Jongg League (NMJL) standards.  We will begin with tile identification, core rules, and foundational strategies. We will decode the card and practice building hands.  In the afternoon, you will be coached through playing games that build confidence and momentum at the table.

The NMJL card is included in the course fee. Please note: this is a bring-your-own-lunch experience*, allowing for a relaxed mid-day break without disrupting the learning flow. By the end of the retreat, you’ll be fully equipped to play with friends and in community games.

*Please adhere to the Alpert JCC policy of not bringing pork or shellfish on campus.
