Repro Justice: Rights & Access at Risk

NCJW Greater Long Beach & West Orange County is excited to host a virtual panel discussion on reproductive rights, with two speakers. 

Michele Bratcher Goodwin is a Chancellor’s Professor at the University of California, Irvine and founding director of the Center for Biotechnology and Global Health Policy.  She is the recipient of the 2020-21 Distinguished Senior Faculty Award for Research, the highest honor bestowed by the University of California. She is also the first law professor at the University of California, Irvine, to receive this award. She is an elected member of the American Law Institute as well as an elected Fellow of the American Bar Foundation and the Hastings Center. She is also the host of "On the Issues with Michele Goodwin" at Ms. Magazine.

Professor Goodwin also serves on the executive committee and national board of the American Civil Liberties Union. She is a highly sought-after voice on civil liberties, civil rights, reproductive rights and justice, and cultural politics.

Shannon Olivieri Hovis is the Director of NARAL Pro-Choice California. A policy expert and political strategist, Shannon has spent her career fighting for civil and human rights, with nearly fifteen years of experience as a change maker in state and local government, the classroom, electoral campaigns, and mission-driven advocacy. As a proud bisexual feminist, Shannon is fiercely committed to intersectional leadership, equity, and diversity. She holds Bachelor’s degrees in Social Sciences and Theatre from the University of Southern California, a Master of Science for Teachers from Pace University, and a Master of Public Policy from the University of California, Berkeley.
