Artwork by Marie Ben-Sabat

An whimsical art blend of traditional and new imagery.
Though Marie Ben-Sabat has always had a creative streak, she only pursued her artistic side beginning in her late thirties. Her love of painting was actualized after her three children were born. She started painting walls, but thanks to a dare, she had since progressed to large canvases. She is self-taught and has a love for vibrant colors and a flair for impact. Her preferred medium is acrylic paint and spackling paste. Additionally, she dabbles with oil, spray, and shellac. Her style is whimsical and she blends traditional old and new imagery with a modern pop art twist.
Marie’s father was an Israeli pioneer who passed away in 2015. After his passing, painting became a cathartic outlet for her in dealing with her grief. She would relive his wartime experiences through the historical, political, and Zionist portraits she depicted.
Marie currently works as a photographer specializing in family portraits and headshots.
