OUR VIBE

Warm, welcoming spaces where everyone feels at home

Meaningful connections that happen naturally, not just at formal events

Celebrating diversity, because every story, tradition, and perspective adds to our vibrant tapestry

There's a place for you here.

WHAT'S JBORHOOD LBC?

Jborhood LBC is building a vibrant, inclusive Jewish community that feels as sunny, welcoming, and creative as Long Beach itself.

By creating connections outside our walls, providing free & low-cost programs and spaces to mingle, we hope to offer a cultural home base for belonging.

Jewish connection can happen anywhere—over coffee, at the beach, in a backyard, or during a Friday night dinner under the stars.

Your Questions, Answered

Jborhood LBC FAQs

Is it free to join?

Yes! With the exception of occasionally buying your own lunch or coffee, Jborhood LBC is completely free to participate in.

How do I join?

Please fill out our Jborhood Interest form (click here) OR email Anneleise Thompson ([email protected]) and let us know what group you’d like to join!

What Jborhood LBC groups are there?

We are actively recruiting Jborhood Connectors who will lead these individual groups! If you’re interested in hosting one of these communities, reach out to our team! We are open to your unique suggestions, but hope to initially offer Jborhoods for the following communities:

  • Interfaith Families
  • Volunteerism
  • Empty Nesters
  • Young Adults (under 40, no kids)
  • Widows & Widowers
  • 40s & 50s Singles
  • Location Based (IE: People in Seal Beach)

Can I join multiple groups?

Of course!

Can I start my own group?

If there is a Jborhood LBC group you don't see listed but would like to start, please get in touch! Email Anneleise Thompson at [email protected] or fill out the Connector Application.

Can I bring a friend?

Absolutely! Please be sure to RSVP for all parties if the event requires prior registration.

Do I have to be Jewish to join?

Nope! Jborhood LBC is rooted in the Jewish values of hospitality, connection, and community, but it is open to people of all faiths, backgrounds, and identities.

Is this a religious group?

No. Jborhoods are not affiliated with any specific synagogue or religious organization. The goal is to create welcoming spaces for people across the spectrum, religiously affiliated or not.

Our intent is to build inclusive communities that embrace people of all faith backgrounds, political perspectives, and identities. While gatherings may reflect Jewish values of connection, hospitality, and belonging, the program is designed for anyone seeking authentic relationships and community in the Long Beach area.

What kinds of activities can I expect?

Jborhood LBC gatherings are designed to be casual, inclusive, and fun. They might look like coffee meetups, family playdates, Shabbat dinners, fitness activities, book clubs, or neighborhood hangouts. The exact activities will reflect the interests and needs of each Jborhood.
