Week of Giving: A Shared Responsibility

Summer is here. And with it comes a beautiful cacophony of joy.
This week our campers filled the pool with laughter. Women's Philanthropy gathered poolside for an evening of painting and wine. Members raced down the giant pool slide during Tuesday's Membership Appreciation event.
Tonight, we will gather once again for our annual summer Shabbat at the Pool and celebration (and another special visit from Shabbatasaurus). We are grateful to Temple Israel Long Beach for their partnership on this wonderful tradition.
When I listen closely, I hear more than the sounds of summer. I hear friends reconnecting. Families celebrating. Children building memories. I hear the sounds of a vibrant community where everyone belongs.
Belonging and community are at the heart of our mission.

This week's Torah portion, Devarim, reminds us that we are one people. We share a responsibility for one another, for our peoplehood, and for the future we are building together. That is what I see happening all summer long at Jewish Long Beach.
